Fresh, local seafood served with a side of family tradition & a whole lot of history.
In 1987, Ron Sopko envisioned a small, family-style seafood wholesale business where the customer always came first. At that moment, the seeds for Sea Farms were firmly planted. Ron set up shop on the Chesapeake Bay in the small town of Mathews, VA, and the rest is history.
Not much has changed these days. We continue operating as a family business always working to maintain our “mom & pop” style customer service. Our home continues standing in that small town of Mathews – smack dab in the heart of the Chesapeake Bay. Our location on the water provides us (and our customers) with daily direct access to the best fresh, local seafood the Chesapeake Bay has to offer.
The Sea Farms way.
At Sea Farms, safety and cleanliness are of the upmost importance. We take pride in doing right by our customers and maintaining state-of-the-art facilities, including a shellfish facility, seafood processing plant, and on-site aquaculture farm.
Our shellfish facility operates year-round, shucking oysters and packaging shell oysters and clams for distribution throughout the year. The seafood processing plant processes and distributes a variety of fish – salmon, tuna, halibut, mahi, and swordfish just to name few. At our on-site aquaculture farm, we focus on growing oysters all the way from larvae to mature, harvestable oysters ready to eat.
